Cross Flow Fans — selection guide

Cross Flow Fans: 318 models, impellers Ø30–150 mm, maximum airflow 23–4,000 m³/h, static pressure to 320 Pa, DC, AC and EC motors, across 236 series.

Cross flow (tangential) fans are specified by two numbers that both appear in the model code: impeller diameter and impeller length. LWCA-1501200 is a Ø150 mm impeller 1,200 mm long on an AC motor; LWCD is the 12 / 24 V DC line and LWCE the 230 V EC line. Diameters run from Ø30 to Ø150 mm and lengths from about 90 mm to 1,200 mm, all with aluminium-alloy impellers on maintenance-free ball bearings.

The discharge is a flat, even curtain as wide as the impeller, at low static pressure (8–320 Pa across the range). That makes the family the standard fan for indoor air-conditioner units, air curtains, elevator cabins, fireplaces and any appliance that needs a wide, quiet air stream from a slim housing.

How to select from this range

  1. Start from the housing: the impeller length must match the discharge opening, and the diameter is limited by the housing depth.
  2. Airflow scales almost linearly with length at a given diameter and speed, so a longer impeller at lower speed is the quiet way to reach a target airflow.
  3. Keep the air path open — cross flow fans develop little static pressure, so filters and grilles must be coarse.
  4. Pick the motor line by the appliance: LWCA for mains-powered units with two- or three-speed tapping, LWCD for battery or low-voltage designs with voltage / PWM control, LWCE for 230 V units that need stepless control and feedback.
  5. Confirm bearing side, shaft and lead-out position on the drawing; many combinations are made to order.

How do I read a cross flow fan model number?

LWCA-1501200SN-06: LWCA = AC line (LWCD = DC, LWCE = EC), 150 = impeller diameter in mm, 1200 = impeller length in mm, then the motor / mounting code and version. Compare models within the same diameter to trade length against speed.

What is the longest impeller you make?

Standard lengths in the catalogue reach 1,200 mm at Ø120–150 mm. Longer impellers are made with an intermediate bearing on request.

Can a cross flow fan work against a duct?

Only against very low resistance — typically below 100 Pa. For ducted duties choose an inline duct fan or a centrifugal blower; the selector will offer them if you enter a higher static pressure.
